Plants with Bell-Shaped Flowers

Plants with bell-shaped flowers are some of the most beautiful options for our home and garden. We can recognize different plants in different ways, but often a flowering plant's most distinctive feature is the flower themselves. Although not always in bloom, when they do come out to enjoy the sun, their color and shape can work wonders in terms of aesthetic beauty. So many ornamental plants have bell-shaped flowers because it is a shape we find particularly pleasing to the eye.

At thedailyECO, we discover 10 plants with bell-shaped flowers. We find out what they are called, determine what basic care they might need and provide photos of these bell-shaed flowers so you can see if they will be a good option for your home.

1. Desert rose (Adenium obesum)

Also known as mock azalea, kudu, sabi star or impala lily, the desert rose is a succulent that has the ability to store large reserves of water in its trunk. As you can see in the photo below, it is a bushy plant in full sun, with oval leaves about 10 cm long and with pretty bell-shaped flowers reminiscent of oleander. These can be pink, red or white in color and are highly prized for their appearance.

2. Lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis)

One of the most well-known plants with bell-shaped flowers, the lily of the valley is a beautiful shade or semi-shade plant. This makes them particularly good ground cover for areas of the garden which have very little light. Despite their name, they are not actually a type of true lily. Rather, they are a plant with rhizomatous stems native to European forests. As a species for gardens, it is highly appreciated for its flowers, which are formed in beautiful white or soft-toned bells, which also give off an elegant and sweet fragrance.

3. Golden trumpet (Allamanda cathartica)

Native to tropical areas in South America, it is not surprising the golden trumpet is a plant with bell-shaped flowers. Just like the bell of a trumpet, these flowers bloom into a beautiful yellow bell which is able to withstand even very hot weather. In more temperate climates, it is usually grown indoors so they can have more heat. They cannot stand the cold and will die in frost. The sap of this plant is very toxic, so we need to be particularly careful with any children and pets in the home.
